Release:

I’ve seen these guys more than a few times. Actually, I think I’ve been following them since they started doing public performances a little over a year ago. In the early stages of hearing Release, I was a bit reluctant towards the project because they kinda push the parameters of what live music actually is. As time went on, I grew to like their music even more for the same reasons.  Release takes a lot of time in preparation for their live appearances. The obvious focus from the audience viewpoint is John and Jim, both sharing vocal and guitar responsibilities. Their songwriting is well thought out and deeply heartfelt. When one sees them live it becomes more than obvious that they are extremely passionate about the music they play. Their originals hit everything from cool hippy rock & roll to social awareness to new age. They blend almost seamlessly into damn near any venue they play, whether it be with metal bands, rock bands, acoustic acts, or any other genre you can come up with. Surprisingly, there really isn’t a venue they won’t fit into. There is a mystery 3rd member (if you will) to their line up - their rhythm section. Even though it’s pre recorded, it’s not just a bunch of samples or pre-processed patterns. John and Jim spend a lot of time creating the rhythm section of their band, which has everything: drums, synthesizers, bass, and more. The rhythm section of Release definitely makes them an extremely original band and defines them as a band and not just a duo. Personally I think they should personify their rhythm section and give it a name. Like I said, I’ve seen Release more than a few times, but seeing them and hearing them at a venue like Saratoga Winners was a really cool experience. At that volume and on that stage, it added a whole new dimension to the band. Technology and humanity combined in one of the most creative displays of originality. Stop by their website at www.ReleaseTheMusic.com and check out some of the music they’ve made available for downloading and to find out where they’ll be next so you too can experience them live

Thanks to Acemann for the kind comments - Honestly, we did not pay him to say this stuff!!

June 8, 2003 - This e-mail was received from Connie Rohloff, a friend we met through the Crazy Crab's Wednesday night Open Mic.  Connie and her husband Mark have always given us encouragement!

"...It is so cool to see you two getting out there and being acknowledged.  Your persistence has paid off, and hopefully it will continue to do so.  I checked out
your radio interview, that was so great, and to be on Fox news next, you
go man!!!  I'm impressed with your web site too.  Now you'll have to get
your act on Sounding Board...  Connie"
